Until lions have their own historian, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter. – African Proverb

10 years ago, trailblazer, Dawn Williams had the fortitude to write the first edition of Who’s Who in Black Canada. Its purpose was clear: Profile and pay homage to Black Canadians who have achieved greatness and have made a difference in the lives of others, by doing so. A second edition followed four years later and much like its predecessor, it became a valuable tool and resource used by students, academia, business professionals and the general public.

Who’s Who in Black Canada.com’s mission is to not only build upon Dawn’s original dream and vision, but to use it as a springboard to elevate our community. Our goal is to continue to showcase the best-of-best in Canada’s Black community and inspire excellence in others. Too often, we as Black Canadians are reticent when it comes to shouting out our successes from the proverbial mountaintop. We’d prefer to humbly do the work; confident in the knowledge that at some point, someone will take notice, and maybe even reward us for our efforts. We assert that belief should be challenged. We should be the first to acknowledge our own accomplishments.

So get ready. We have big plans.

In the coming months, you can look forward to a comprehensive directory of the Black community’s movers and shakers, spotlights on up-and-coming visionaries, and a few surprises along the way. New profiles and features will be added frequently, so be sure to visit often. Stay connected by choosing your favourite profile, leave comments, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and join our mailing list. We look forward to reading your thoughts and ideas.

Let’s do this!
